I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and, after school in North Carolina and New York City, moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where I have lived ever since. 

I began painting in my early 20’s, and worked in mixed media on paper for years, exhibiting around the Bay Area.  About twelve years ago I began combining this love for working on paper with computer art, and have developed a unique style in which I create original paintings and drawings on paper, transfer them into the computer, and edit them with Adobe Photoshop.  I have also created several artist’s books. 

This technique allows me the best of two worlds – the spontaneity of watercolor, pencil, and crayon on paper and the editing capabilities of the computer.  I love to play with composition, and the computer is the perfect tool.  My work has a collage quality, as I often combine various works on paper into a final image.

 

 

There is a vitality, a life-force, a quickening that is translated through you into action and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you.
